The health awareness campaign titled ‘Healthy Lifestyle; Healthy Nation’ conducted by Qatar India Fraternity Forum concluded with a colourful closing ceremony held at Al Jazeera Academy recently. The month long campaign was kicked off on the National Sport Day.
The prime attraction of the campaign was a health awareness booklet — Fitness First — that was printed in Arabic, English and Malayalam languages and widely distributed among the public. The booklet was introduced in cooperation with Qatar Olympic Committee and was sponsored by Coastal Group.
Noted personalities from the expatriate Indian community who contributed in the arena of sport were honored at the ceremony. The honored include Ashiq Ahmed (Volleyball), Abdul Nassar (Hockey), Mohammed Mansoor Imthi (Kabadi), Shakeel Ahmed Kakwi (Scouts) and Ismail T O (Martial Arts).
The audience were entertained with a traditional cultural dance ‘Kolkali’ by Ashraf Vanimel and team.
The closing ceremony also saw ‘United Martial Arts’ team, led by Nisamuddin V T under the supervision of Chief Instructor Noushad K, demonstrating various martial arts forms like Karate, Kung fu and Kalari Payattu.
The closing ceremony was inaugurated by Sayeed Ahmed, General Secretary, Qatar Indian Social Forum. Fraternity Forum President Shanavas Unni presided and talks were delivered by Mohammed Imran, Marketing Manager of KIMS Group (chief sponsors of the event), and KMCA President Niyas Ahmed. Officials of Fraternity Forum including Faisal C K, Shaheer A M, Faisal Malayil, and Abdul Azeez Subhan also spoke.
