KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry has condemned an Iranian attack that targeted fuel tanks at its international airport.

The attack is a “serious violation of international humanitarian law, as the airport is considered a civilian facility”, it said in a statement shared on social media.

Aziz Rahim Al-Deihani, acting deputy minister of foreign affairs, “renewed the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and strong denunciation of this aggression, emphasizing that it represents a flagrant violation” of the country’s sovereignty, “in clear contravention of international law and the United Nations Charter”, read the statement.

The attack also marks a “dangerous escalation … that undermines regional and international peace and security”, it said.
