Neglect of our responsibilities is treachery

Do you know what are the concerns of managers of departments or divisions in the government sector?

Their concerns are not related to their work, adjusting expenses and budgets, or determining job descriptions; their focus is always on the employees’ attendance and their adherence to the working hours.

The state has increased the citizens’ salaries, and the Emir said the salary hike was meant to encourage citizens to work hard and increase productivity while enjoying a comfortable life. But the question is, are all civil servants — or even some of them — aware of this clear message?

Many employees use every possible trick to avoid work and get leave. They care for their own interests and give priority to their own businesses. Even those who come to work are mentally absent as they are thinking about their own affairs.

Where are the rights of the people, the rights of the state and the rights of Allah?

Until when will such recklessness prevail? Where is the loyalty or love for the homeland which we witness on National Day?

We need to serve our community through either formal positions or voluntary work.

We must be well aware that neglect of our duties and work is treachery against the country, and it is religiously ‘haram’ (ill-gotten) because it is a violation of the terms and conditions stipulated in the contract signed by employees and their

employers.

Civil servants need to become part and parcel of their work. They need to abide by working hours because that is in the interest of all parties.

It also guarantees loyalty to Allah, to the homeland and the Emir (may Allah protect him), who puts much confidence on our efforts.

These are my last words to the country’s civil servants: Your Emir (may Allah protect him) and your state have trust in you. So please keep this trust. Your country is in need of you and your efforts, and your own hands will build it.

Roll up your sleeves and have trust in God. This will bring us the welfare we dream of.
