Doha: Education Above All Foundation’s (EAA) Qatar Scholarship Programme yesterday welcomed a new cohort for the 2022-2023 academic year, bringing total recipients so far to 125.

During a celebratory Iftar event, EAA and the General Directorate of Endowments (Awqaf) also honoured graduates of the Qatar Scholarship Programme.

Ten graduating expatriate students received their graduation certificates, and 32 high achievers were honoured for their outstanding academic performance. A new group of 28 scholarship recipients for the 2022-2023 academic year were welcomed at the event.

“We are delighted to be part of this great partnership that aims to provide Qatari-based youth from around the world with quality higher education through the Endowment Account for Scientific and Cultural Development. This is in line with the Qatar 2030 vision that aims to help the youth to develop the life skills and knowledge they need in order to actively participate in the development of society,” said Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, Director of General Department of Endowments.

The ceremony was also attended by   Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education; Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of University of Doha for Science and Technology; Dr. Francisco Marmolejo, Higher Education President at Qatar Foundation; and Dr. Ivan Ninov, Executive Dean of Al Rayyan International University College.

“EAA continues to work relentlessly to make a world where all youth, particularly the most underserved, have access to quality higher education that will support them in building a prosperous future. We thank Awqaf for their support in making this possible and look forward to the next phase where we aim to provide even more students in Qatar with the opportunity to access quality higher education,” said Talal Al Hothal.

The Qatar Scholarship Programme is granted to those between 17 and 25 years-old who have spent most of their formative years in Qatar, with access to quality higher education at Doha-based universities.  The scholarship recipients study at Qatar University, Qatar Foundation Universities, Al Rayan University, Doha University for Science and Technology, and the University of Calgary in Qatar. The programme is implemented by EAA and made possible with the support of the Endowment Account for Scientific and Cultural Development in the General Department of Endowments.
