The formal inauguration and reception of the Sri Lankan Muslim Professionals’ Forum – Qatar (SLMP-Q) was held on Friday at Retaj Al Rayyan Hotel.
The evening marked the formation of a much awaited forum for the professionals from Sri Lanka which will work on broader vision of seeking to establish a premier platform to promote solidarity and networking among Sri Lankan Muslims professionals in Qatar and the mission to bring together a dedicated group of professionals with a common interest to develop and implement activities.
The welcome address was delivered by the Chairperson, Hazim Hamza, while a presentation was made on the formation, objectives and future plans by the Secretary General, Dr Fikreth Shuaib.
The chief guest of the evening was Jayantha Palipane, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar. He launched the website of the forum www.slmpq.org. The keynote address on the topic “Value of Networking and Skill Development” was delivered by Saliya Karunanayake, Senior Vice President – Manpower Planning at Qatar Airways.
Amana Bank Limited, an Islamic Bank in Sri Lanka, joined hands with the forum as corporate sponsor for 2015 marking its first strategic partnership overseas to promote its products among Sri Lankans abroad.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the Deputy Chairperson of the Forum, Mohammed Lafir.
