Doha: Doha Golf Club member John Galt won the second event of the 2014 Megarme Summer League with a score of plus 6. The event was held on Saturday and 100 players participated. The format was bogey, which pits the golfer against the golf course, matchplay style. Conditions on the day were windy with gusts up to 25km per hour recorded.
Galt’s excellent score despite the tricky conditions won him Flight A by two shots from Siegfried Sariowan. Highlights of Galts round were gross birdies on holes four, 10, 15 and 16.
In Flight B, the scoring was extremely close with four players tied on +3. Winning by virtue of the countback rule was Stephen Clark with Adrian Black securing the runner-up spot.
Countback also decided Flight C with Shinichiro Kawabe winning with a score of +4. Doug Grote placed second.
The Ladies Flight was won by Leslie Looker with a score of +2.
Jain Victorious in the Megarme Summer League Medal
Jain wins Medal event
Pratyush Jain, playing off a plus 3 handicap, won the recent Megarme Summer League Medal with a fantastic score of nett 66.
Simon Davies came in second.
The Medal event was the third in the Megarme Summer League series and the conditions were hot and still. The event was well supported by Doha Golf Club members with 118 participants.
Jains superb score of gross 69, nett 66 was earned by gross birdies on holes 6, 12, 16 and 18 with his only bogey on hole 17. Simon Davies scored a nett 69 to place second.
In Flight B, Warren Dance was victorious. His gross total of 76 from a handicap of 10 gave him a score of nett 66. Highlights of Warren’s round were birdies on 12 and 16. It was a good day for the Jain family with Pratyush’s brother, Arnav, placing second with a nett 68 in this event.
In Flight C, new member Paul Swan scored a nett 66 to win by a shot from Heinz Durrer.
The ladies division was won
by Marlene Lebitschnig with a nett 72. THE PENINSULA
