DOHA: Katara Art Center (KAC) has launched a competition for Doha-based photography enthusiasts this summer.

‘Summer Diaries’ photo competition invites photographers of all skill levels to put their summer experiences into pictures. Selected images will be shown in an exhibition in October.

Whether summer is defined by travelling the world or staying in Qatar, with family, or in Ramadan, ‘Summer Diaries’ allows photographers to display their storytelling abilities through images, each telling a story.

Using a DSLR or a mobile camera, selection of images for the exhibition depends on the photographer’s ability to express a story through a message, thought, or aesthetic.

Deadline for images is September 7 midnight.

A committee has been tasked to select the best photos two weeks after the deadline, in time for the exhibition that will be open to the public.

“In the exhibition we would like to showcase photography in all its variety, used to capture the memory of a lived summer and form a wall of images that has the potential of shared thoughts, memories, and creative or aesthetic vision,” said KAC Artistic Director and Curator Mayssa Fattouh.

Participation is open to all age groups and skill levels and participants must submit 15 images with a short description for consideration.

Photos may be submitted through WeTransfer (or equivalent file transfer service) to info@kataraartcenter.com with the title ‘Submission for Summer Diaries’.

Files should be in .tiff or .jpg format, ideally at a resolution of 300 dpi.
