New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh leaves here today on a five-day visit to the US during which he will hold summit talks with President Barack Obama as well as address the UN General Assembly.
The prime minister in all likelihood could also meet Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the UNGA. He is also meeting his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina.
The prime minister will travel to New York to address the UNGA on September 28. A meeting between Singh and Sharif is likely on September 29.
Manmohan Singh’s meeting with Obama in Washington on September 27 is expected to focus on implementation of the landmark India-US civil nuclear deal, enhancing defence cooperation and the situation in the region, including Afghanistan.
