100 Thousand Poets for Change is a global effort to hold events, encourage discussions, and raise awareness about changes needed in our local communities, and very likely also on a national or world-wide level.
Poets, musicians, and artists of all kinds to present their work centered on the theme of change. On that day, 100 Thousand Poets for Change already has over 600 events registered to take place in over 100 countries. Some participants of the Doha even on their facebook page had expressed their thoughts. “Seasons change, winter to fall, roses will blossom and petals will fall,” said a participant.
Another said, “Music and poetry are two languages that have a wonderful chemistry when put together.”
Organizers of the Doha event had initially called for people interested in perform spoken word poetry or play any musical instrument. Then an audition was held for all registered participants. The only requirement is that the event content focuses on the theme of change.
100TPC was founded in Guerneville, California, but most organizational tasks are done by individual organizers of local events. Event organizers in individual cities volunteer to create an event in association with 100TPC. The organization’s central office then publicizes the event through its web site, social media outlets. The relationship between most local organizers and the 100TPC headquarters remains informal.
