Affordable marriage halls may not attract many

The electronic media reported recently that the project to build cheaper marriage halls will be completed soon.
The aim behind the project is to encourage youth to get married by reducing the financial burden that many youth have to bear before and after marriage.
The project was conceived as financial aspirations grew due to the rise in the economic level of citizens and appearances became important in every part of life due to the cultural and economic openness that has changed our environment.
We can only thank the state for its constant efforts to provide solutions and proposals to eliminate any problems that would hinder its vision.
But the question is, will the cheaper marriage halls attract citizens who are accustomed to showing off, consumerism and luxuries that cost a lot?
The prevailing culture is such that not many families would want to hold their weddings in such halls as society would wonder how they could organise their wedding in such a cheap, public banquet hall.
We suffer from a culture that only focuses on how expensive the wedding party was and how much money has been paid since the engagement, ignoring marital happiness and the importance of starting a happy family.
If the country is doing its best to remove obstacles for its citizens, we also must change society by focusing on families. Parents who perhaps are trying to compensate for the bad economic conditions they suffered in the past by providing all that they have to their sons and daughters, are harming them without knowing it.
Unfortunately, they do not know the consequences of their actions as they get loans from banks. Sometimes, before the loans are repaid the newly married couple divorce. Marriage means building a family and taking responsibility. Love and compassion and the desire to start a family that would take part in society’s renaissance are absent.
No society can be successful without the crucial role played by families. We hope awareness campaigns get the support of public, social and economic institutions and change the prevailing culture in society. The alternatives include the new halls and focusing on how to start a happy family. We should also encourage youth to organise their wedding parties at these halls to reduce costs, especially when they are just beginning their married life.
