Over 150 people, including members of the elite Qatar-British Business Forum (QBBF) attended an event to celebrate the QBBF’s 25th anniversary.
Founded in 1992, the QBBF provides a platform for members to establish useful contacts through a variety of events with the aim to promote bilateral trade between Qatar and the United Kingdom, two countries with historical ties.
With over five hundred members from the business community it holds a number of high profile events throughout the year, including luncheons, breakfast panels and its inaugural business awards dinner.
The celebratory luncheon, which was well attended by over one hundred and fifty members, included footage of the QBBF’s most memorable events as well as a speech by Paul Patterson, a long standing member of the QBBF, who reflected fondly on the forum’s history.
A cake, presented to the QBBF by W Doha Hotel and Residences, was cut by Emad Turkman MBE (QBBF Chairman), Gordon MacKenzie (General Manager Radisson Blu Hotel Doha) and John Kennedy (Gulf Contracting). MacKenzie and Kennedy are both long-standing members of the QBBF.
About the event, Emad Turkman said “I feel very honoured to be the Chairman of an old, well-established and very successful business group in Qatar, working hard with the entire membership of the forum to take British and Qatar business relations to the highest level.”
MacKenzie said: “I was delighted to be invited to the anniversary lunch for the QBBF and to participate in the event with so many old and new members. The past twenty five years have been exhilerating as a member of the forum, meeting regularly and being inclusive at these meetings with politicians, royalty, visiting VIPs and Qatari distinguished guests. Twenty five years have flown by and I wish the members and the committee all the very best for the growth and continued success of one of the most prominent and established business forum in Doha.”
Paul Patterson, QBBF comittee member, added: “Although the QBBF is twenty five years old now, we still think of ourselves as work in progress. Always seeking ways and means to enhance membership from a business, members’ benefits and social point of view.”
