The Qatar Cycling &Triathlon Federation (QCTF), Board Member Prof. Dr. Nasser Al Mohannadi, who attended the 30th International Triathlon Union (ITU) Congress in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, last week, said the future looks very bright for the sport.
“The QCTF will be working diligently over the coming years to establish and develop the sport. The relationships built over the last couple days in Rotterdam will be vital to make sustainable progress by sharing knowledge, co-operating with other developing and developed federations and gaining support,” said Al Mohannadi.
During the visit to the 30th ITU Congress, the QCTF met with global and Asian representatives of the sport to discuss how Qatar can significantly develop the sport of triathlon.
The sport has witnessed a growth in the country, with the QCTF doing their bit to promote the sport.
“There’s potential to develop triathlon locally and regionally for both Qataris and expats. We’re keen to keep building on this momentum,” Dr Mohammed Jeham Al Kuwari President of QCTF said.
“We’ve been working hard to develop the sport. We’ve three-year strategic plan, along with a 10-year vision which will be key to delivering success. We’ll be focusing on developing coaches, grassroots events and junior elite programmes in the first year,” added Al Kuwari.
