Doha: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) yesterday selected eight Qatari officials for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
International referees Abdulrahman Al Jassim and Salman Falahi headline the Qatari contingent, while Taleb Salem Al Marri, Saud Ahmed and Majid Hadeeras have been selected as assistant referees.
Khamis Al Marri will serve as a Video Match Official (VMO), with Abdulrahman Abdo appointed technical instructor and Banjar Al Dosari fitness instructor.
The AFC confirmed a record 76-strong officials line-up, comprising 24 referees, 41 assistant referees and 11 VMOs.
The officials were selected following a three-year assessment process from 2023 to 2026, covering performances at FIFA and AFC competitions as well as domestic, regional and international tournaments.
The AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 will be held from January 7 to February 5 across eight stadiums in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar, with 24 teams competing for the continental title. Qatar will be bidding for their third straight title.
