ISTANBUL: Turkey won the bid and is to host the World Petroleum Congress in 2017. This came at a voting contest with Astana, Houston and Copenhagen , held at Youth Congress of the World Petroleum Forum in Canada's Calgary city.
Turkey's presentations and promotional work, carried out by a delegation under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Murat Mercan, left a good impression on voters.
Turkey's Ambassador to Ottawa Tuncay Babal told Anatolian Agency that the "Oilympic" theme in the presentations, which connotated olympics, struck the participant countries with admiration. (QNA)
