Two Taliban commanders killed

Kabul: Two senior Taliban commanders were killed and another Taliban commander was arrested during a military operation by Afghan army in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan.

According to local government officials, the two senior Taliban commanders were killed along with their eight fighters during operations in this province.

A spokesman for the provincial police department, Abdul Wali Noorzai confirming the report said the militants were killed or arrested during operations by Afghan national army.

Noorzai further added that the operations were conducted in Nerkh district, and the two senior Taliban commanders, Mullah Fahim and Mullah Ghafoor were killed. He said the detained Taliban commander was recognized as Mohammadullah, and the death and detention of the Taliban commanders will have a positive impact over the security situation in this province. Taliban militants group have not commented regarding the reports so far. Wardak is among the volatile regions in central Afghanistan which is located almost 35km west of Kabul city, where Taliban militants are actively operating in a number of it’s districts. Agencies
