Doha: Aspire Zone Foundation has successfully kicked off the first race of the much-anticipated Aquathon Series of 2016-2017, bringing together a large number of sports enthusiasts of all ages in Qatar.
This popular combination of swimming & running sport race took place at Hamad Aquatic Centre pool facility, and around the Aspire Zone precinct. This year’s edition saw the highest number of participation since the competition launched a few years back, with over 280 participants taking part in the first race alone.
The second and third races of the competition are expected to be held on November 4, and April 8, respectively, giving other sports enthusiasts the chance to register and compete.
Registration for the race is open for anyone aged 8 and above.
The competition has been designed to accommodate both adults and children, as such, it contains a wide range of categories with varying running and swimming distances.
Adult groups run for 5K and swim a distance of 500m, meanwhile kids compete to run a distance ranging from 1.5K-3K, and swim for 100m-200m, depending on their age group. For registration, full program and information on the race, visit http://lifeinaspire.qa
