Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) hosted on Sunday evening the launch of the Atlas of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by Chairman of the book’s editorial board H E Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al Thani.
Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library (QNL) H E Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, a number of Ambassadors of the countries participating in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and a number of intellectuals and the press attended the ceremony.
In his speech during the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Al Kuwari said that this atlas is worth the celebration and must have a place in every home, every library, and with every person, because it not only is informative, but it covers all the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 participant countries.
He stressed the necessity and importance of documenting and recording every single detail, praising the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), due to its awareness of the significance of the moment. He pointed out that whether by voice, image or writing, documentation passes down a legacy and record for future generations and their pride.
The Minister of State and QNL President indicated that the library is working on a programme to document the history of Qatar and record the testimonies of the men and women who contributed to writing this bright history that every Qatari is proud of.
Chairman of the book’s editorial board Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al Thani said that the atlas contains geographic and general information about the countries participating in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in addition to information about their national teams and their participation in previous tournaments, as well as about the World Cup, noting that this information is important at this moment when the country is undergoing its preparations to host this global event.
