Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic organised a panel discussion entitled “Safe Camping Season”, with the participation of a number of relevant authorities, as part of its awareness plan aimed at reducing the number of violations and reducing traffic accidents during the winter camping season (2022-2023).

The seminar was attended by Brigadier General Muhammad Abdul Rahim Marafieh, Director of the Traffic Safety Department, a number of officers of the departments affiliated with the General Directorate of Traffic, a number of employees of the participating agencies, and secondary school students.

At the beginning of the seminar, the Director of the Traffic Awareness Department of the General Directorate of Traffic Brigadier Mohammed Radi Al Hajri explained that the goal of all the awareness activities that the department has included in its awareness plan for the camping season lies in achieving road safety and security, and reducing the number of deaths caused by traffic accidents.

He pointed out that the awareness campaign organised by the department targets all camping area-goers, drivers participating in the events, as well as visitors and tourists, with a focus on the youth category, while the campaign includes weekly field visits to identify violations and dangerous traffic behaviours.

He noted the importance of adhering to the traffic safety requirements that the vehicle driver must follow in the wilderness areas, including using the seat belt, and the need to avoid wrong traffic behaviours, foremost of which is excessive speed, reckless driving, and others.
