Childhood centre marks Children’s Day

DOHA: The Childhood Cultural Centre celebrated International Children’s day with students from different schools in the country at the Ritz-Carlton.
The event held under the theme ‘One Childhood for One Childhood’ was attended by students from independent and expatriate schools, with several members from civil society organizations and diplomatic missions. 
Dr Hind Al Muftah, Director General of the Childhood Cultural Centre said, “Children are the future and the best investment is on children. They have the right to enjoy their childhood rights.”  
“As we celebrate the International Children’s Day, there are number of children who are suffering and their childhood has been abused, by aggressive regimes in Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Myanmar.” 
The event featured 14 types of folk dances by students representatives of different schools representing different cultures. 
Fatma Ibrahim Al Haji, student at Al Falah school for girls said, “I’m proud  to introduce the Qatari tradition and  heritage to students from other countries.” 
Natali Al Jhosi, a Jordan student studying in Doha said, “This celebration is an opportunity to learn other traditions and for children to show their talents.” 
Universal Children’s Day events on November 20 to mark the anniversaries of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Qatar is a signatory to the children’s rights agreement.
