SC's security committee stresses readiness to secure major sports events

Doha: Vice-Chairman of the Security Committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) Major General Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al-Thani has confirmed the security readiness to secure major sports tournaments hosted by the State, including the 2022 World Cup.

In a press statement on the occasion of the launch of the Committee's accounts on social media platforms, Major General Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al-Thani said that the Committee is concerned with the development of comprehensive security plans to secure the championships and the mechanisms implementing these plans within the framework of the laws and regulations in force in the country. He pointed out that sports security attains the peak of its success through fruitful cooperation between the public and security personnel and adhere to their guidance.

He pointed out that the accounts of the Security Committee on social media platforms will be an additional platform to raise awareness and education on security aspects related to sports tournaments, in addition to introducing the Committee's various programs and activities.

SC's Security Committee launched its official social media (Twitter - Facebook - Instagram - YouTube) accounts, just before the start of several important sporting events in Qatar including the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup "Gulf 24" which starts Tuesday, and the FIFA Club World Cup 2019 in December.

The security committee accounts aim to spread security awareness, promote a culture of proper sports encouragement, rules and regulations governing sports, identify prohibitions in the stadiums, clarifying the movement of traffic activity before and during the sporting events, and the dissemination of Committee news and activities.
