Srinagar: Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces yesterday in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said.

The two militants were also involved in a gunfight with security forces on October 16 at a hotel in Srinagar, in which two hotel employees were killed.

“The slain militants have been identified as LeT’s district commander Mudasir Sheikh alias Mavia and Tamin, a Pakistani national. Both were from the LeT,” police said.

“A head constable of the special operations group (SOG) of the state police was killed in today’s (Monday) gunfight in Dodhipora village of south Kashmir Kulgam,” police said.

The SOG and troops of 9 Rashtriya Rifles had launched a joint operation in the village following information about the presence of militants in the Valley.
