PESHAWAR: The Army Public School and College attackers in Peshawar last week used cellphones to stay in touch with each other and also with two of their commanders during the brazen attack, official sources said here yesterday.
The source said at least three of the attackers used cellphones that were activated two days before the attack. The SIMs were probably purchased and activated in Landikotal tehsil in Khyber Agency, said a source from the initial investigation by the police.
The source added that the attackers called each other and their command several times while butchering innocent students at the auditorium, classes, corridors and other places.
These SIMs were registered with fake names of people belonging to Punjab and Sindh. Thousands of SIMs are sold daily in the country without any proper procedure. Mostly unregistered SIMs have been used in terrorist attacks and heinous crimes.
The reports also added that two of the attackers were Afghans, another two were from Swat while at least one was from Bara.
The report said the attackers stayed at a local mosque before carrying out the assault via Bihari Colony. However, it could not be confirmed. Agencies
