QOC’s fitness and health programme begins today

Doha: As part of its Qatar Active Campaign, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) will organise its annual ‘Physical Fitness and Health’ programme today and tomorrow on the Corniche and at Aspire Park.
The 2014 edition will be held in coordination with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) and Abbott Nutrition.
It includes fitness and medical checks by using body mass index (BMI) indicator and other tools to measure physical fitness, weight, length, fat and flexibility of the muscles. It also includes aerobic fitness tests to measure the ability to work for longer periods, depending on the efficiency of the respiratory system. Mohammad Essa Al Fadhala, Director, QOC Public Relations and Marketing Department, and Executive Director, Qatar Active Campaign, said the event aims to promote health and sport awareness and make sport an integral part of the daily life of society.
