Doha: The municipalities have contributed greatly by offering high quality municipal services in hosting the most unique and successful FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Municipality recently, directors of municipalities demonstrated their dedicated services during the mega sporting event.
Director of Doha Municipality Mansour Ajran Al Buainain said that the municipality worked diligently and sincerely in order to fulfil the desires and aspirations of people in supporting the efforts of country in organising a distinctive and unique World Cup that remains engraved in the minds throughout the ages.
Al Buainain said: “We have prepared a control room for emergency services with all necessary equipment and devices to receive urgent communications and complaints, in order to raise the municipality’s readiness and ensure a speedy response to emergency cases during the tournament.”
Fortunately this year, he said, Qatar National Day celebration coincided with the 2022 World Cup, and the country is witnessing more great developmental projects and achievements in all fields, which have placed Qatar in the ranks of developed countries.
He said that in the framework of the continuous pursuit towards development and upgrading of the Doha Municipality, the city of Doha has won membership in the Global Network of Learning Cities from the Unesco Institute for Lifelong Learning, which enhances its global presence as a city that supports learning, its goals and values.
“Doha has also been accredited by the World Health Organization as a healthy city, among the eight Qatari cities, making Qatar the first country in the Middle East to have all its cities receive this title from the World Health Organization,” said Al Buainain.
He added that the Doha Municipality participated in the “Zeina” initiative by decorating the facades of the municipality building, the building of the support services areas department in the industrial area, and a yard surrounded by palm trees in Rawdat Al Khail Park and it also continued the plantation campaigns and planting green spaces to improve the urban and aesthetic appearance for the city.
“The Municipality also intensified inspection campaigns on food facilities to ensure safe and health food for the fans of the World Cup and Qatari people,” said Al Buainain.
Director of Al Shamal Municipality Hamad Juma Al Mannai said that Qatar hosted most successful FIFA World Cup in the history due to efforts exerted by all sectors in the country in general, including the Ministry of Municipality, which devoted all its energies to the success of this tournament.
He said that the coincidence of the National Day this year with the conclusion of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which was held for the first time in an Arab country and in the Middle East region, made it acquire a kind of challenge to highlight Qatar’s ability to present a unique version of the World Cup that dazzled the world. Director of Al Rayyan Municipality Jaber Hassan Al Jaber said that the Municipality participated in the preparations for the World Cup by decorating municipal buildings and gardens.
He said that the municipality also provided daily services from health and control inspection of food facilities and commercial complexes from the start of the tournament until the end of its activities, and the cleaning of commercial streets and control services within 24 hours. All of this is monitored through the operations emergency room located at the municipality headquarters, which has direct channels of communication with inspectors in the field and receives and implements all requests and complaints.
