DOHA: Qatar Charity’s (QC) 2014 food security programmes benefited more than 2.75 million people affected by natural or human-made emergencies and disasters in 55 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe.
Projects worth QR58.6m included initiatives to feed refugees and internally displaced Syrians and those displaced during and after the conflict in Gaza, especially the most vulnerable, including the elderly, households headed by women and people with special needs.
Others included those directly affected by violence in the Levant, Central and South Asia and Africa. Drought-hit populations of the Sahel and Horn of Africa regions and those affected by floods in Europe also benefitted.
