Yahoo revokes 'Work-at-Home' policy

NEW YORK: Yahoo has abolished its work-at-home policy explaining "face-to-face interaction among employees fosters a more collaborative culture".

A memo explaining the policy change, from the company's human resources department, says face-to-face interaction among employees fosters a more collaborative culture - a hallmark of Google's approach to its business.

In an attempt to get back on track, Yahoo is taking on one of the country's biggest workplace issues: whether the ability to work from home, and other flexible arrangements, leads to greater productivity or inhibits innovation and collaboration.

Since Marissa Mayer became chief executive of Yahoo, she has been working hard to make the Internet giant an innovator once again.

Yahoo's net profit for financial year ended December 31, 2012 was US$ 3.94 billion, an increase by 276 percent over $1.049 billion in 2011. The company's Q4 revenue was $1.35 billion, up 2 percent from the same quarter in 2011. Its annual sales in 2012 amounted to $4.99 billion.

Yahoo anticipates around $4.5 to $4.6 billion revenue in 2012. (QNA)
