BAGHDAD: The Iraqi police killed today a suicide car bomber in Tikrit, the Iraqi Interior Ministry announced.
Ministry's spokesman Brigadier Saad Maan said that a police force of Salahuddin province managed to detonate a car bomb with a suicide bomber inside which trying to attack a checkpoint on the highway in Tikrit.
He added that the police forces also managed to kill a militant was trying to help the suicide bomber.
Meanwhile, an army officer and three policemen were killed when a roadside bomb hit their patrol on Tuesday evening at the boundary between Amiriyat al-Fallujah and Jurf al-Sakar 45 km northwest of Hilla.
A source in the Babil police said that the bomb exploded on their patrol, killing three policemen and the officer, who died while being taken to hospital. (QNA)
