Doha: The Third Emergency Management Training conducted by the Permanent Emergency Committee (PEC) in association with UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) concluded on Tuesday.
The programme that included theoretical and practical training was held in Zekrit where several employees from different departments attended.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Director of Rescue Police Department (Al Fazaa) and member of PEC, Brig. Abdul Azeez bin Faisal Al Thani, and officials from PEC and UNHCR. The ceremony started with a film that highlighted the important parts of the training programme.
Brig. Al Thani thanked all those who worked for the successful organisation of the programme which started on February 16 and covered important topics on emergency and crisis management.
He also thanked trainers and trainees and said he was confident that those who attended training had achieved expertise in the topics from experienced trainers.
Samil Al Haddadin from UNHCR praised Qatar for arrangements made by the PEC for the programme, contributing to its success. He also praised the high spirit and attention by trainees in all sessions, including theoretical and practical programmes.
The UNHCR representative said the programme is one of many training workshops in the Arab region and urged more such training as it can contribute to qualifying people dealing with crises and emergencies effectively and efficiently. At the end of the programme, Brig. Al Thani honoured the trainers and authorities and presented certificates to participants. Trainees thanked the PEC and UNHCR for the programme and said it added to their skills and expertise in dealing with emergencies and crises.
