DOHA: The Cabinet yesterday endorsed executive regulations or bye-laws for the legislation that regulates the tourism sector, including providing guidelines for classifying hotels and licensing tour guides.
The occupation of tour guides was created when the law was issued in 2012.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani chaired the Cabinet’s weekly session at Emiri Diwan.
The meeting ratified a draft decree on fixing a date for the election of the fifth term of Central Municipal Council (CMC).
It also approved a draft executive regulation for Law No. 16 of 2013 on chemical weapons.
The draft includes provisions related to tasks of National Committee on Arms Embargo, inspection work, licences and procedures for their issuance, their validity and renewal and licensed facilities’ commitments.
The Cabinet ratified draft executive regulations of Law No. 6 of 2012 on tourism.
It comprises provisions to regulate hotel and tourism establishments and licence requests, their issuance and renewal.
It addresses relinquishing, transferring and cancelling the licence, commitments of the licensees, fees and wages for services provided by Qatar Tourism Authority, classification of hotel and tourism facilities, licensing of tourist guides, inspection measures and procedures to appeal against QTA decisions.
The Cabinet ratified a draft Emiri decision amending some provisions of Emiri Decision No. 35 of 2014 on the regulation of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), distributor of electricity and water, reports Qatar News Agency.
It endorsed a draft Cabinet decision amending the regulation of some administrative units that constitute the Ministry of Energy and Industry and specifies their powers. The session also endorsed a draft Cabinet decision amending the regulation of some administrative units that make up the Ministry of Environment and assigns their powers. The Cabinet approved its draft decision, amending the regulation of some administrative units that make up Kahramaa and specifies its powers.
The session ratified a draft decision by the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics to establish departments at the administrative units that make up the ministry and specifies their powers.
The Cabinet reviewed and took decisions on a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 40 of 2004 on the guardianship of funds of minors; and a letter by the National Committee on Arms Embargo on the 30th report of the panel’s work from September 1 to December 31, 2014.
