Latvian giant Pauls Jonass last night produced dominating performances in the season's opening MX2 World Championship, winning both the races at Losail International Circuit.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's 20-year-old rider picked up the maximum tally of 50 points from the two races held under lights.
Jonass finished shared the podiums with Frenchman Benoit Paturel and Belgium's Julien Lieber in both races as all three finished 1-2-3 respectively in the two races of the 19-stop calendar.
Jonass clocked 35:32.077 to win the 18-lap race 2 with a best lap time of 1:51.434.
Paturel finished race 2 with a time of 35:33.092. Paturel's best lap time was 1:51.193 registered in lap 6. Lieber (KTM) finished race 2 in a time of 35:35.322.
Danish rider Thomas Kjer Olsen (HUS, 35:39.961) and Switzerland's Jeremy Seewer (SUZ, 35:44.472) completed the top five in race 2.
Earlier in race 1, Jonass grabbed the top spot with a time of 35:24.348 finishing 0:01.759 ahead of Paturel. Lieber was 0:20.039 seconds adrift of Jonass's time in the 18-lap race.
Kjer Olsen (35:47.913) and Italian giants Samuele Bernardini (35:56.365) completed the top five in race 1 of the opening round of the MX2 World Championship.
