Doha: The Executive Director of the Permanent Committee for Organizing Conferences (PCOC) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mubarak Ajlan Al-Kuwari, has affirmed that the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, which will be hosted by Qatar from March 5 to 9, will have wide international participation at the highest levels.
In a statement, Al-Kuwari said that the expected number of participants in the conference ranges between 4,000 and 5,000 from outside Qatar and 1,000 from within.
He noted that there would be a large number of heads of states and governments and their deputies, in addition to a number of foreign ministers and high-ranking officials whose participation has been confirmed so far.
"The participation of this large number of top dignitaries indicates the importance of the event and will certainly contribute to the success of the conference and demonstrate Qatar's high capabilities in hosting important international events," he added.
Al-Kuwari said that Qatar has made all necessary arrangements for the success of the conference in coordination with the United Nations, including facilitating entry procedures for all guests, participants, and journalists.
"Qatar hopes that the conference will contribute to finding absolute solutions and come up with recommendations that will contribute to the acceleration of development and prosperity in the least developed countries," he said.
Al-Kuwari noted that Qatar is harnessing all its diplomatic, logistical, and development capabilities to achieve this goal.
