MANILA, Philippines - Senate President Franklin Drilon on Thursday vowed to work harder amid his rising public trust and approval ratings.

"I will continue to work hard in the Senate, and I will do all that I can to prove to our Filipino public, that indeed, I value and deserve the trust that they give my office," Drilon said.

The Senate President said that he is thankful for the public's appreciation and promised to remain focused with his work in the Senate.

According to a statement, the recent survey from Pulse Asia showed that Drilon is currently the most approved of and trusted among the highest officials of the country.

Drilon garnered a "near majority" public approval rating of 49 percent which is higher than his 47 percent rating last November 2014.

His public trust rating rose from 42 percent last November 2014 to 44 percent this March. The survey was conducted from March 1 to March 7.

"Surveys are reflections of public perceptions as they were during that period when it was conducted. If anything, it just reinforces my belief that the only way to gain public trust and approval is to actually do one's duties as a public servant, and serve and uplift the people," the Senate President said.

On the other hand, President Benigno Aquino III suffered the biggest drop in approval ratings from 59 percent last November 2014 to 38 percent this March. His trust rating dropped from 56 percent to 36 percent in the same period.
