DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has intensified crackdown on outlets selling substandard electrical appliances.
The ministry said yesterday it has closed down another outlet for two weeks at Al Asmakh for selling electric heaters that do not meet Qatari standards and specifications. Two days ago, the ministry had announced the closure of an outlet in Industrial Area for two weeks for similar violations.
Fifty-one heaters were seized during surprise raids by inspectors from the ministry. Samples were sent to Standards and Specifications Authority for checking their specifications.
The ministry said the outlet had violated Articles No. 6 and 13 of the law. It urged consumers to report any violations to the Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud Department which receives complains and suggestions on hotline 8005000 and email info@mec.gov.qa
