Doha: The Health Control Department of Al Khor and Al Zakhira Municipality has intensified inspection campaigns on food outlets across the municipality. The campaign was launched in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
The inspection drive resulted in closure of five food outlets for violating the provisions of the Human Food Law No. 8 of 1990. This step comes within the framework of the municipality’s keenness on the safety of the supply of various foodstuffs and ensuring the provision of safe food to consumers.
These campaigns included food establishments offering large quantities of foodstuffs during the month of Ramadan, and restaurants and popular kitchens that specialise in preparing Iftar meals for fasting people in large quantities.
The campaigns aims at determining the commitment to the standards of safety and quality of preparing, processing and transporting these meals in healthy conditions that are compatible with the provisions of the Human Food Law and the standard specifications.
