H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani
Doha: H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Special Adviser to the Emir, affirmed yesterday that H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani had a futuristic outlook, saying that the core feature of his domestic policy was “investment in the citizen.”
In an interview with the Qatar TV, Sheikh Abdullah said: “Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani had been working for 10 years to lead the young generation who can lead the country, and this was his futuristic outlook.
“Sheikh Hamad, since he was Heir Apparent, had plans to take Qatar to a higher level in foreign policy and economy.”
“Qatar has now reached a stage where it has to be consulted on anything happening in the Middle East, European countries and the United States,” he said.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed that Qatar has reached a level that “everyone is proud of — its vision and Sheikh Hamad’s leadership.”
He added: “The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has the same futuristic outlook and is following the footsteps of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
“Sheikh Tamim has his own futuristic vision for Qatar and one day I think he will put Qatar at a level greater than what we are expecting.
“Sheikh Tamim is the one who wrote the Introduction of Qatar Vision 2030, which is a futuristic vision that could be achieved before that date.”
Sheikh Abdullah pointed out that Sheikh Tamim wants to lead Qatari citizens beyond the level they have reached.
Sheikh Tamim and Sheikh Hamad have the same vision in preparing citizens by offering them education and healthcare and pushing them towards sport, which has become a culture in many developed countries.
Sheikh Hamad had been working for over 15 years to host the World Football Cup.
Sheikh Abdullah revealed that Sheikh Hamad had spoken to him three years ago that he wanted to step down soon, and said that there were young men well-prepared to shoulder the responsibility.
The young generation in Qatar, led by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the supportive group, will develop the country in a way exceeding our imagination, he added.
