Bettiah, Bihar: A two-year-old boy in West Champaran district in India bit a cobra to death after the snake wrapped around his hand and bit him, Times of India reported.
The boy, identified only as Govinda, was playing outside his family house when he was bit by the cobra, prompting the child to bite the snake back twice in retaliation, killing it in the process.
Family members rushed Govinda to a local health center. He was later referred to a nearby hospital for further care.
Doctors said the boy was receiving treatment and remains under observation.
Health workers confirmed that the snake was venomous, and that it was unclear how much venom entered the child’s system. The effect however, was relatively mild and not fatal, merely knocking the two-year-old unconscious.
The snake, according to the health workers, died from trauma to the head and mouth inflicted by the bite.
Govinda’s condition is being monitored. No further medical complications have been reported so far.
