Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received a phone call today from the Prime Minister of the friendly United Kingdom, HE Andy Burnham, who expressed his sincere condolences on the passing of the late Father Amir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
For his part, His Highness the Amir expressed his appreciation for the Prime Minister's sincere sentiments.
He also congratulated him on assuming office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, wishing him success and the continued growth and development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the call, the two sides reviewed the strategic cooperation between the two friendly countries and discussed ways to further strengthen and develop it across various fields. His Highness praised the strength of the historic ties between the two nations in a manner that serves their mutual interests and reinforces their strategic partnership.
The two leaders also discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote security in the Middle East.
They underscored the importance of continuing dialogue and diplomatic means to address regional issues and support international efforts aimed at consolidating peace, including ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, in order to safeguard regional and global security.
