Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs organised educational field visits for 35 students participating in its 2026 Summer Training Programme, “The Professional Generation” (Al-Jeel Al-Mihani), taking them to the Imam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab Mosque and Hamad Port as part of efforts to enhance their professional skills, national awareness, and understanding of Qatar’s key religious and strategic institutions.
The visits, organised by the Ministry’s Human Resources Department through its Training and Administrative Development Section, form part of the programme’s practical learning activities designed to expose students to the government work environment while enriching their knowledge through direct interaction with national institutions.
The initiative aims to prepare young Qataris for future careers by combining classroom learning with hands-on experience, in line with the country’s investment in human capital.
The summer programme targets secondary and university students and supports the human development objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. It also aligns with the Ministry’s strategic plan to build national capabilities by equipping participants with practical skills, professional experience, and values that enable them to contribute to Qatar’s long-term development.
During their visit to the Imam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab Mosque, the country’s largest mosque and one of Qatar’s most prominent Islamic landmarks, students learned about its religious, educational, and cultural role in promoting the values of moderation, faith, and community engagement.
They toured the mosque’s main prayer hall, library, lecture halls, and service facilities while receiving an overview of its architectural design, which blends traditional Islamic features with Qatari identity.
Participants were also introduced to the mosque’s extensive educational, cultural, and outreach programmes serving different segments of society.
The visit included interactive discussions with mosque officials, allowing students to gain deeper insight into the role of mosques as centres for worship, education, social cohesion, and moral development.
The Ministry said the visit helped strengthen students’ connection to Islamic values and national identity while encouraging them to benefit from the scientific and cultural programmes offered through Qatar’s mosques and religious centres.
In a separate visit, the students toured Hamad Port, one of Qatar’s most significant strategic infrastructure projects, where they explored its role in supporting the national economy and reinforcing the country’s position as a regional hub for maritime trade and logistics.
The tour introduced participants to the port’s advanced infrastructure, modern logistics services, operational systems, and smart technologies, highlighting how Hamad Port supports supply chains, enhances trade and food security, diversifies national income sources, and contributes to sustainable economic development.
The 2026 Summer Training Programme currently includes 70 secondary and university students, equally divided between 35 male and 35 female participants, who are receiving practical training across six key departments of the Ministry.
