Dutch varsities seek opportunities

DOHA: Two leading universities from the Netherlands are seeking opportunities in the field of higher education and research in Qatar. 

A team of experts from University of Groningen and the University Medical Centre Groningen from The Netherlands will visit Doha today to look at opportunities. 

The delegation includes deans and scientists of medical sciences, the faculty of mathematics and natural sciences and the head of the Research Group Drug Design. 

In their effort to look for opportunities in higher education and research with a focus on medical sciences, pharmacy, mathematics, natural sciences, advanced materials, energy and sustainability law, computer sciences & engineering, gas and environmental studies, the delegation will meet their Qatari counterparts.

The visit will include meetings with officials from Aspetar Hospital, Anti Doping Lab Qatar, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar University, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, Qatar Computing Research Institute, Qatar Environment & Energy Research Institute and Texas A&M University. 

The delegation will be here until Monday.

A delegation of the Anti Doping Lab Qatar visited the University of Groningen and signed a memorandum of understanding in July 2013.

The Dutch delegation will also discuss with Qatar officials possible development of exchange programmes between Qatar universities and institutes and the University of Groningen.
