New York: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met yesterday at the seat of the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations several heads of delegations participating in the 68th UN General Assembly session.
The Emir met separately King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Swaziland, President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita of Mali, President Dervis Eroglu of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, President Ikililou Dhoinine of the Islamic Republic of Comoros, and President Mahinda Rajapaksa of the Republic of Sri Lanka.
The Emir also met the President of the Republic of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Oqil Oqilov, and Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves.
The Emir also held talks with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gul. Discussions covered means of enhancing cooperation and regional and international issues of common concern.
The Emir met separately the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Erlan Idrissov.
The Emir also held talks with the head of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, Ahmad Al Jarba.
Discussions dealt with latest developments in Syria and possible solutions to the Syrian crisis, including the Geneva II Conference.
Both sides also discussed the humanitarian situation of the Syrians displaced, calling on the international community to take steps.
The Emir also met the Prime Minister of Kuwait H E Sheikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah at the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the UN.
The premier also conveyed to him the greetings of the Emir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. Talks dealt with fraternal relations and issues of mutual concern.
The meetings were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir.
The Chairman of Microsoft, Bill gates also met the Emir. QNA
