New closing time for Independent schools

DOHA: The Minister of Education and Higher Education, H E Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi, issued a decision on Tuesday to change the end of day timing of Independent schools for the new academic year. 

  The classes in kindergarten and elementary schools will last till 12 noon while 1:35 pm is fixed for preparatory and secondary schools, Al Sharq reported. The new decision has also changed class schedules for preparatory and secondary schools. Thirty classes have been fixed for main subjects in a week and one class every week for English for students of grade three to 10.

One class per week of technical education will also be held in grades three to nine. One class will be held for the Arabic skill for grade 10 every week and two classes in a week for the pre-university skills for 11 and 12 grades.

Two classes per week have been fixed for enrichment lessons and extra-curricular activities. The indepent schools will have to include both classes in the school schedule according to the suitability of the schools and grades but the period should not exceed more 45 minutes.
