ISLAMABAD: Merely 65,000 of the 0.8 million poorest-of-the-poor families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan could be provided relief in the last three months due to the sluggish provision, retrieval and process of the data by the concerned institutions.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has allocated Rs7bn for its pro-poor initiative to provide special package of subsidised flour and ghee to the poorest families in the province.
The provincial government has decided to take the baseline data of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) for the distribution of the relief and 5.6 million people has been identified as poor.
They would get subsidy of Rs10 per kilogramme on purchase of 40kg flour and Rs40 per kg on purchase of five kilogram ghee per month.
The families, who secured 16.1 points on the BISP chart and that rated them as poorest-of-the-poor, are being issued two vouchers of Rs600 per month.
