ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will file defamation suit against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for mental agony, torture, harassment, humiliation, caused to his family and damaging his reputation and his image.
The legal team of former CJ is examining all the aspects while preparing the case against Imran Khan for filing defamation suit.
“Being a high profile matter, we are examining all the aspects and will ensure that not a single part could be left uncovered”, Sheikh Ahsen Uddin, senior member of the legal team said.
He said that after finalising all the aspects they will file defamation suit against the PTI chief next month.
Ahsen Uddin said that the team is in close coordination with the former chief justice while finalising the defamation suit.
He said that the former CJ has rejected response and allegations, levelled by Imran Khan, adding that Khan’s allegations that former Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry influenced the Returning Officers are totally baseless, having no truth at all.
He further said that the recent statement by the PTI chief terming former CJ as Mir Jaffer is worst kind of bid to defame former Justice Iftikhar. “Imran himself is the greatest Mir Jaffer while announcing civil disobedience during his sit-in and levelling allegations against Balochistan Assembly,” Ahsen Uddin said.
It is pertinent to mention that former Justice Iftikhar on July 24 had issued defamation notice of Rs20bn to PTI chief Imran Khan for injuring his reputation while levelling allegations against him during his statements and press conferences.
Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, was the 18th Chief Justice of Pakistan. Hailing from Quetta, Balochistan Province of Pakistan, Chaudhry started practice as an advocate at Sindh High Court in 1976.
