Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met the UN-Arab League Envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, and his delegation at Dharb Palace yesterday.
Talks covered the Geneva II conference aiming at finding solution to the Syrian crisis. The Emir stressed Qatar’s support for efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people and ending the bloodbath in their country.
Khartoum: The Director of the Office for Follow-up on Darfur Peace, Dr Amin Hassan Omer, yesterday praised Qatar’s efforts towards peace and stability in Darfur.
He was addressing a press conference held by the European Union Office and Darfur Regional Authority marking the inauguration of Wadi Alcoa water project in Darfur.
It is funded by the EU as part of a development strategy adopted by the international donors’ conference in Doha in April.
Omer also praised EU’s role in the peace process in Sudan and its participation in the donors conference. QNA
