The Spectacular story ballet Sheherazade cast a spell on hundreds in the audience at the Katara Drama Theatre with its extravagant colour, well-layered narrative and enchanting movements.
Presented for the first time in the Middle East, the three-night show which concluded yesterday featured the acclaimed Sofia National Ballet giving life to the timeless story of a young woman sentenced to death by her husband, the Shah. In an effort to save her life and of others, she tells stories so intriguing that the Shah is lured to spare her life another day. With orchestral music composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Sheherazade was based on medieval Middle Eastern literary work One Thousand and One Nights’ clever heroine. Receiving numerous applause, the show enchanted the audience throughout.
