
Manama: President of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa has formally launched his bid to replace Sepp Blatter as FIFA president.
Sheikh Salman, who is a FIFA Executive Committee member, is the second Arab candidate for the FIFA presidency after Jordan's Prince Ali bin Al Hussein the President of Jordan Football Association.
He is the sixth candidates to confirm entering the FIFA presidency race after the Union of European Football Associations President Michel Platini, the FIFA Former Secretary-General Jerome Champagne, Trinidad's David Nakhid and the South African diamond miner Tokyo Sexwale.
Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim has been the AFC president since May 2013 and the president of Bahrain Football Association since 2002.
