Doha: Former England international and Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer will take part in a charity talk at Grand Hyatt Hotel Doha tomorrow, organisers of the event said here yesterday.
The 44-year-old will be regaling the audience with amazing stories interwoven around his football career in an event organised by Guardian Wealth Management.
The evening’s entertainment with one of footballs’ greatest ever strikers will be hosted by BeIN Sports’ presenters Richard Keys and Andy Gray.
Shearer, who played for English Premier League clubs Southampton, Blackburn Rovers, and Newcastle United, was a record goal scorer for Newcastle. He was also the top scorer at the Euro 96 championship.
The striker, who retired from professional football in 2006, is now a football pundit for BBC.
During the evening in Doha, fans will also get a chance to get football shirts and footballs signed by the former England star, who briefly donned the Newcastle United manager seat in the last eight games of their 2008–09 seasons, in an unsuccessful attempt to save the club from relegation.
The organisers, Guardian Wealth Management said they are offering fans a chance to hear tales and anecdotes from one of football’s living legends. The event promises to be an engaging, entertaining and surprising insight into the incredible career of one of sports’ true gents, says a press release.
Money raised during the evening will be donated to a number of chosen charities including the Qatar Cancer society and Qatar Animal Welfare Society (QAWS), the organisers added.
Tickets for the show are available at Grand Hyatt Hotel or can be bought online at gwm-intl.com.
The event is co-sponsored by the Grand Hyatt Hotel and supported by Vodafone, along with Maserati and other sponsors.
