Doha: ISL Qatar hosted the first Rockschool exams in Doha this week.
Fourteen students participated in drum and singing examinations.
ISL Qatar students have been working hard since the beginning of their term with extra lessons, workshops and rehearsals and their commitment paid off when all 14 passed, including 11  with merit.
Daniel Gay arrived from London to examine the students and expressed delight at the welcome he received and the students’ enthusiasm.
As part of preparations for the exams, students have been performing regularly in the school atrium to help overcome performance nervousness.
Rockschool is an international examining board for contemporary music. Its qualifications are recognised worldwide and from Grade 6 upwards students can gain extra credit on their university applications.
Instruments include guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, piano and vocals.
ISL Qatar is the official centre for Rockschool in Doha,  committed to expanding opportunities for students of all ages to develop their musical education by playing the music they love. Students from surrounding schools are able to take the exams at ISL Qatar rather than travel to Dubai as was previously necessary.
ISL Qatar will host the exams again in May 2015 and welcomes any enquiries about the programme.
