Bazm-e-Urdu Qatar (BUQ), the oldest Urdu literary organisation in the country, organised its monthly tarhi Mushaira (a poetry recital event on a selected verse) at Deccan Hall recently. Muhammad Rafique Shad Akolvi, BUQ patron, presided over the programme, while Professor Dr Muhammad Mumtaz Ali, from International Islamic University, Malaysia, was the chief guest. Mansoor Azmi, a well-known poet in Qatar and Treasurer of BUQ, was the guest of honour. Iftekhar Raghib, the General Secretary of BUQ, welcomed the guests and poets, while Roase Mumtaz, a poet, conducted the programme. The given verse was selected from the poetry of great Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib.
The poets who presented their creative skills were: Shad Akolvi, Mansoor Azmi, the chairman of BUQ Muhammed Mumtaz Rashed, Jaleel Ahmad Nizami, Yusuf Kamal, Muhammad IftekharRaghib, Jamshed Ansari, Roase Mumtaz and Athar Azmi.
