​Emir congratulates Yemen President

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable to Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, congratulating him on the success of the comprehensive national dialogue in reaching a positive outcome that will meet the Yemeni people’s demands and aspirations for a new and modern civil state based on the rule of law, justice and equality among all citizens.

Greetings sent to Indian President


Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of congratulations to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, on his country’s Republic Day. The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a similar cable.
Emir, Premier send cables to Australia
Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of congratulations to the Governor-General of Australia, Quentin Alice Louise Bryce, on her country’s National Day. The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a similar cable.

Emir chairs   council meeting


Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani chaired the first meeting of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment for 2014 at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
The Prime Minister and Interior Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Council H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani was present.
The Minister of Finance and Secretary-General of the Council H E Ali Sharif Al Emadi said the council was briefed on the provision related to the follow-up of its previous decisions and procedures taken, especially in matters related developments in the petrochemical industry and Qatar Petroleum International projects.
In a statement to QNA, he said the council was also briefed on QPI’s plan and the investment strategy of Qatar Investment Authority and decided to approve the budgets of the company and the authority for 2014 and budget of the council for 2014-2015. The council was also briefed on a study on the development of the private sector.


Panel restructured


Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued Emiri decision No. 4 of 2014 restructuring the Higher Committee for Projects and Inheritance. The board of directors has been reformed under the Emir, with his personal representative as Deputy Chairman. Members include the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as Managing Director, the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Youth and Sports, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics, the Minister of Transport and the Chairman of Qatar Football Association. The four-year membership can be renewed for a similar period. 


Al Jazeera Egypt channel relaunched


DOHA: Al Jazeera network yesterday announced the re-launch of Al Jazeera Muabasher Misr. The military-led government in Egypt banned the channel last August for alleged bias towards the Muslim Brotherhood. Its offices in Cairo have been closed since July 3 and the channel had been broadcasting from Qatar. Al Jazeera said the channel will continue to highlight current issues in Egypt with feedback from Egyptians. Agencies
